Frequently asked questions

  • Is Bim Willow your real name?
  • It is my surreal name. My name at birth was Lawrence Elmer Schackow. Bim is short for Bimbo and Willow for Willow trees. I worked as a mime/clown for many years supplementing my income with willow furniture. In 1985 I established Willow Works and started building willow furniture fulltime. A clown is what I am a furniture maker is what I do. If you Laugh at me laugh or laugh with me, it is good medicine.
  • How much does it cost?
  • To be put on the list is free.
  • To host a page on this or other related sites is free.
  •  If you do not have a website and would like a gallery page off this site I am asking $25.00 per page for set up. This defrays my cost of the server and my phone bills and a little for my time.
  • What about E-Mail?
  • You can have yourname@www.rusticfurnituremakers.com, www.willownetwork.com  or www.rusticnetwork.com this account can be on my server or relayed to your current e-mail address. This is also Free.
  • How do you make money?
  • This site is more of a hobby and a passion of mine. I do make some money from Google ads.  I make my main income working with my hands building furniture and sculpting. How you can help Buy my books.
  • Can I advertise on this site
  • Not at this time But perhaps in the near future
  • Do people make sales off having a website?
  • Yes and no. A web site is a great tool for showing your work. Like having a world wide brochure.   If you want to make sales off the internet I suggest having your own domain, promoting it on the net, a shopping cart,  credit card availability and a way to package and ship. Internet sales are not going away, and I believe they will only increase over time.
  • What are the advantages of being on this list?
  • Being on this list helps make your work more visible. With the multiple links it will rank higher on the search engines. For the key words Rustic furniture makers I am # one on both Google and Yahoo
  • It will give the consumer a chance to buy direct.
  • It gives us a chance to organize shows  by makers and  place to talk shop.
  • Promotes our industry.
  • What do I need to get started?

  • If you need a page send 5 to 10 pictures per page.  These can be sent e-mail or snail mail. I suggest adding a phone# , address, picture of yourself, and of your work along with anything else you want to say. Remember Kiss (keep it simple )
