Brendan Richardson

Brendan has a drafting design degree and worked in the field of design for five years. During the later years working in the field, he had the opportunity to move to the northern Adirondacks where he became immersed in the rustic aspect of building after buying an unfinished cabin to add character to. After a couple years of building in his spare time he decided to put his focus into a business of rustic furniture full time.

Bruce Wight

As an Adirondack Rustic worker I have had many workshops and chances to display and demonstrate. Some of these include the Adirondack Museum Rustic Fair, the Blue Mountain Center for the Arts, the Newcomb visitor interpretive Center, as well as numerous craft shows, and school groups. I have rustic furnishings in many states and locations, including Walt Disney World in Florida.

Doug and Jesse Cormack

We are located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Central New York State and our service area includes the city of Syracuse and surrounding villages and towns.

Willowdale Rustics is a family owned and operated business with strong family values. We take a great deal of pride in our work and customer satisfaction is important to us.

Duane R. Benton

Benton Rustic Heirlooms

Through the splendor of nature, I scour the forests and creeks in upstate NY, while enjoying the serenity nature’s beauty offers me.  On my journeys through the woods, I seek out unique tree roots and other distinctive pieces of hardwood to put my inspired imagination to work, creating magnificent heirlooms!!  Meanwhile, my daughters gather fallen pinecones, acorns, and bark from downed trees for adornments on many of my furnishings.

 Dan Costello

I've been making willow furniture for 3 years now. Until my own newly planted willow is ready for harvesting, I work with green willow found along the roads, neighbors yards, farmers hedge rows, abandoned parking lots....wherever I can find it. Most of what we have in this area is either Black or Sandbar Willow, so that's what I use most. Each piece is hand cut, bent, and nailed into place.

Daniel Mack

This is a small design and production studio in Warwick, New York about 60 miles from New York City. Daniel Mack, the principal designer-maker, started doing this work in 1978.  All work is commissioned, but there are always a dozen or so finished pieces on hand.  There are often rustic building materials--birch bark, peeled logs, forked trees--available for sale.

In recent years, in addition to furniture, Dan has been involved in several major architectural projects using natural materials as columns, beams, and wall treatments. He has assembled a very talented group of rustics who work with him.

 David Daby

David Has been working as master craftsman for about 8 years with a well known Rustic Furniture Builder. When that company decided to go out of business for retirement purposes, David decided to strike out on his own. We turned a garage into a shop for him and ordered all the tools he would need to do his creations. With The garage and tools in place we formed "Adirondack Rustic Creations".

Dave and Sandy Knudsen  Welcome

We create Adirondack style rustic Accessories custom made to order from birch bark, twig, and other materials.

Douglas Francis

My primary medium is Ironwood, the hardest tree in the Northern forest.
I cut it live and pound the bark off, using the unique surface beneath as my finish.
This species is naturally gnarly and contorted, and I accentuate this quality
by polishing the dried surface to a bone-like patina.

Ed Jenkins Rustic life started for me about 5 years ago, coinciding with my move from Indiana to Upstate New York.   A day trip to the Adirondacks uncovered a multitude of talented artisans in rustic craft and from that moment on, I was hooked.  I began to experiment with different materials and soon found myself liking the look and feel of hickory and hard maple.  I am fortunate enough to have access to woods that are overpopulated with both.  All of my materials are live cut and I use this as a tool for responsible timber stand management.  Trees that are taken are in suppressed stages of growth because they grow in the under-story of larger trees.  Removal of these trees benefits the remaining trees by reducing competition for water and nutrients and in turn benefits us by producing tight grained strong wood for beautiful furniture.

Eric Gulbrandsen

For most of his adult life Eric Gulbrandsen was employed as a carpenter and wood worker. His true passion was for the mountains, forests and waters of New York. He is an avid fisherman, and has pursued trophy brook trout in remote waters of the Adirondack Park for the last 25 years.
